From the book: "This picture was taken in 1929, when Coco was forty-six, the year in which she opened an accessories boutique attached to her Paris salon. The pearls on the pin trimming her straw hat are extra large. Chanel played with oversized costume jewellery that did not pretend to be real."

Bee Jackson, 1920s
Scanned from "Decades of Fashion" by Harriet Worsley. Click image for 778 x 1128 size.
From the book: "World champion Charleston dancer Bee Jackson wears a beaded and fringed dance dress, popular at the time, as the fringes would shimmer and shake and draw attention to movement. This dress is shorter than the typical styles of the era. Paste jewellery known as "slave bracelets" was often worn high up on the arm as well as the wrist."
