Hats, ad, 1930

Hats, ad, 1930

These charming girls are all pretty chubby for today's standards, and some of them looked over seventeen, which is refreshing.

Apart from its beauty the ad is also interesting because it teaches you "how to measure hair bobbed," (for hat fitting) and "how to measure hair not bobbed." For those who don't know, the Bob is a famous haircut from the jazz age.

From the ad:
"How to measure hair bobbed. To find correct size, place tape measure around fullest part of head, or at whatever position you wear you hat. (...) How to measure hair not bobbed. To find correct size, if hair is worn coiled low at the neck, place tape measure a trifle lower than otherwise. Measure at position in which you wear your hats."
